Alex swim to a 2:04.46 narrowly missing the C Final but improving her rank by nearly ten spots. Later in Prelims Adam swam the 100 M Back. He won his heat in a controled effort and is the 7th seed for tonight's final. The men will finish the session with the 4 x 100 M.R. The order will be Adam, Chris Meyers, Nick Petersen and Carl Newenhouse. The team is seeded in the A final
Carl swam to a new personal best this morning at the US Open in the 200 M Back. Carl's time was 2:03.76 and he will be in the C Final tonight. Also, Carl will have to turn right around and swim the third leg of the 4 x 100 M Free Relay with teammates Nick Petersen, Adam Mania and Kevin Ewald as the anchor.
Excellent relay tonight! The men finished 7th and on the podium with a very fine time of 3:26.6. Nick led off with 52.6, Adam was 49.9 Carl came right out of the 200 back and with 25 min produced 51.8 and Kevin anchored with a 52.2. Schroeder enjoys a day off tomorrow before racing on Saturday.
Alex finished tied for 23rd just .01 behind here record setting effort in prelims at 56.89. Great swim again! Alex was out about a tenth slower but finished stronger. Tomorrow, Carl races the 200 M Back and the Men have the 4 x 100 FR at night. Jrs Psych posted
Alex led off this morning's prelims with a 56.88 in the 100 M Free breaking her own State and Team record in the event. Alex made the C Final and will race again tonight. Adam swam a strong 100 free prelim finishing with a 51.4.
Cassandra Jernberg took down big team and state records this past weekend at the the 13 & Over LCS Chamionships. Her first day of the meet she broke (13/14) Shari Countryman / (Open) Sue Kuglitsch 800 meter free team records with a new time of 8:59.99. On the third day of the meet Cassy raced to a remarkable 4:19.36 in the 400 meter freestyle which replaced (13/14) Alex Meyers' and (Open) Shari Countryman's team records and Dot Halmy's State Record. The 2012 United States Open begins Tuesday, August 7 in Indianapolis, IN. Schroeder has several good chances with Alex Meyers, Adam Mania, Cassy Jernberg, and Carl Newenhouse. Also Schroeder will contest two relays for the men - the 4 x 100 Medley and Free relays. The other athletes will be Kevin Ewald, Chris Meyers, and Nick Petersen to compete on the relays. There are three big squads from France, New Zealand, and Great Britain who will surely give the meet a strong international feel. Link to the results...
Gwen's London Olympic experience took a disappointing turn with a puncture on the second lap of the bike leg. You may have seen many riders hit the deck on TV as the roads were wet and slick but Gwen's troubles were run of the mill flat tire. It took about 1 and a half minutes to get to a tire replacement stop and get a new wheel on the bike. By that time, Gwen's spot in the second pack was lost and she was relegated to completing the bike...
