Swim Practice begins for all groups on Monday, September 10. We will be following the regular schedule now with several exceptions: 1st LCM AM Tuesday 9/18 for all groups 1st Sunday 9/23, for Group 6, swimmers in Group 1 begin on Sunday, 9/16 1st dryland Mon 9/24, info out soon about the program 1st Polo Wed 9/19 4:30 PM, for senior team
Brazil is hosting an international sprint swim event on September 23rd and Adam Mania will be the backstroker for the Medley Relay. Read more about it Adam reports the other Team USA Athletes to include Mike Alexandrov and Anthony Ervin pluus a butterflyer. Stay tuned for more info as it sure to be a very fun trip!
The first day of assessments / tryouts for Groups 1 & 2 are today Wednesday, 9/5 and tomorrow, 9/6. The sessions begin at 5:00 PM and go to 6:15 PM. New swimmers and returning swimmers in Groups 1 & 2 are encouraged to come for swimming and an orientation. Matt Miller will also speak to parents of athletes in attendance and will answer questions.
The WSAC, Ltd. has assumed lifeguarding responsibilities as of 9/4/12. Until today the YMCA had provided guards for the Aquatic Center. Any questions should be directed to Matt Miller or Dave Anderson.
The 2012 summer swim season finished with a new team record. Alex Myers swam to a new team record in the 50 m freestyle with a time of 26.34 the Mark eclipsed the great sprinter Cortnee Adams
On the last day of the 2012 USA Junior National Swimming Championships, Alex Meyers raced a great 50 going 26.5 and she is the 10th seed (B Final) in the event. Abigail and Nick closed out the meet with 27.2 and 2:11.0 respectively in the 50 and 200 M IM. Alex races at 7:00PM EST and then it will be a race back to Wisconsin!
Nick Petersen had a good prelim in the 100 back, just off his best at 58.6 this morning, Alex raced the 200 M Free and made it back in the C Final and swam under 2:05 again recording a 2:04.9. Tomorrow is the last day of the 2012 Junior meet. Nick will race the 200 IM and Abi and Alex race the 50 M Free to conclude a successful 2012 summer!
Alex raced the 100 M Free in the A Final tonight and recorded a 56.90 good for 6th place. Abi raced in prelims and went 59.57 and Nick was 52.77 also in the 100 M Free. Nick also came right back and swam the 200 M Back. Tomorrow, Nick will race the 100 M Fly and Abi will time trial the 100 M Free.
The 2012 USA Junior National Championships began today in Indianapolis, IN. First up was Cassy Jernberg in the 800 M Free. Cassandra closed out an amazing summer season with a 9:02.40 - just off her time from the 13 & Over State meet a week ago which should be about 30th. Congrats Cassy! Tomorrow, Nick, Abigail and Alex all race the 100 free and Nick also goes the 200 back.
