Jeff Valodine raced to 3rd place and 1:38.76 in the 100 M Free at the University of Minnesota and the Paralympic Spring National Championships and also recorded a super 1:09.00 in the 50 M fly. More action tomorrow!

Schroeder had a great day on Ethan Bott's birthday! After a blazing prelim session with many best times early in the morning the team produced some great efforts tonight in finals and Schroeder is in s tie for 6th place with YOTA in combined team scoring. Tonight we celebrated Ethan Bott's birthday and several finals swims: Abi and Alex scored in the 50 free, Ashlyn Schoof scored in the 100 back. Schroeder is off to a good start with many great efforts early in the EST at Greensboro, NC. Alex Meyers and Abi Raatz are both back in the B final of the 50 Free, Ashlyn Schoof is leading the way in the B final of the 100 back and Nick Petersen is second going into finals in the 100 back. The girls 200 MR narrowly missed a second swim but the boys (Nick, Al, Alessandro and Milo) are 7th. Cassandra is in the final of the 1000 also tonight....

Schroeder is out for a team meal before a good night's sleep and the start of the 2013 National YMCA Swimming Championships in Greensboro, NC. The meet begins at 8:30 AM EST and live results can be found here and on Meet Mobile (although I haven't gotten it on my phone yet)

Jeff Valodine will be racing against some of the best Paralmpic athletes in North America April 4-6 in the US Paralympic Swimming Spring Nationals / Can Am meet at the University of Minnesota Aquatic Center. Jeff is classifed S6 and competes most of the time against able-bodied athletes but this Nationals will show just how good Jeff really is at swimming!

Rolland (Rollie) stopped by the pool today and introduced himself. Rollie is a retired painter and was one of two primary guys on the job in 1979. He explained how without protection (harness) and up on scafolding that stretched across the width of the pool he reached the beams high above the pool. When Rollie considered the size of the job to paint pretty much the whole interior of the pool, he moaned and said it was one of his biggest jobs/challenges. New carpet is being placed in the hallways and locker rooms and a big pipe that (hopefully) will carry lots more data into and out of the WSAC are two updates that are coming to the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center. April 11th - 14th the pool will be closed for a couple of days to thoroughly clean the filter that keeps the water crystal clear. Today there were people here evaluating the roof and taking core samples to determine what needs to be done to maintain our pool's roof....
