The 2013 USA Swimming Junior National Championships began today, 8/5 in Irvine, CA.  Today, Gwen Worlton raced the 200 M Breast and swam to a 2:43.31 which was her 3rd best perfromance ever.  Good start for the Schroeder Team!  Next up Ashlyn Schoof will race the 200 M back and Alex Meyers and Nick Petersen race the 100 M Free tomorrow. link to Event Page 

Cassy swam a great 1500 at the US Open with a time of 16:49.47. We think she is no worse than 15th! New team and state record!  Actually 14th - nice racing Cass.

Notable highlights from Day 3: Sydnie Horne finished 7th in the 13-14 Girl’s 200 Back with a time of 2:34.61. Katie Taylor finished 4th in the 15-16 Girl’s 200 Back with a time of 2:21.59. Isaac Jiardini finished 2nd in the 13-14 Boy’s 200 Back with a time of 2:15.85.  He tied Chris Meyers’s 2008 team record time of 2:15.79 in prelims. Mason Schoof finished 7th in the same event with a time of 2:21.58. Noah Oldson finished 1st in the 15-16 Boy’s 200 Back with a time of 2:12.42....

For the second year in a row, SSTY has put up points in both Men's and Women's divisions at the US Open.  This year's final scores:   Women: 53rd Men: 23rd Combined: 20th While 20th may not sound overwhelming take a minute to see who was ahead of our favorite sports team .  Six non-university-based clubs are ahead (the one you can't figure is a Welsh National Team.)  We are doing pretty good for clubs who receive more than trace amounts of snow annually too!

  The athletes in Topeka are having a great time representing Team Wisconsin.  Highlights from day 1 include a 16th place finish for Megan Hartlieb and a 15th place finish for Ziyad Saleem in the 100 free.  Megan and Ziyad then went on to represent Team Wisconsin in the 200 free relay finishing 2nd and 4th respectively.  Live Results

The Boy’s 800 Freestyle Relay team of Mason Schoof, Isaac Jiardini, Elijah Borg and Joseph Wenszell broke the 13-14 Boy’s team record this evening with a time of 8:34.60.  This is an 11.78 second drop.  Congrats boys.  The previous team record, 8:46.47, was set in 2006 by Graham Charlton, Jason Castillo, Andy Hartwig and Ben Sjulson.  The same relay team of Joseph Wenszell, Isaac Jiardini, Elijah Borg and Mason Schoof also broke the 13-14 Boy’s 400 Freestyle Relay team record last night, with a time of 3:56.47.

  Adam led the way for SSTY in today's session of the 2013 US Open in Irvine, CA.  Adam's time of 55.47 was good enough to secure the last spot in the Finals tonight.  Mitchell scratched the C final of the back to lead off the 4 x 100 MR tonight.  Adam's final should begin at 5:45 PM PST. The 400 Medley will be around 7:15 PM PST and the relays will be Mitchell, Adam, Ellis and Carl.

Adam finished 8th in the 100 m back at the US Open and then turned around to deliver a decent breast stroke split on the Medley minutes later.  Mitchell led with a 56.0, Adam turned a 1:05, Ellis was 54.7 and Carl Anchored in 51+ for a total of 3:48.55. The last day of the meet is coming and we finish with Jake Kalinowski and Alex in the 50 and Cass in the Mile.
