FAMILY WORK REQUIREMENTS

2024-25 WORK REQUIREMENTS

Thanks in advance for reading through all of the below information! We are Schroeder!

A good portion of the revenue for the swim team comes from hosting meets. The Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center and the Schroeder Swim Team could not make it without the help and support of the parents and other volunteers for these events. Please read thoroughly.

During the 2024-25 fall/winter season we will conduct six (6) major meets:

12 & Under SSTY vs WEST September 28
Greater Milwaukee Open (GMO) October 11-13
Fall YMCA Invite November 17
Schroeder YMCA Finalist December 6-8
Annual Schroeder A+ January 31 - February 2
YMCA State Championships March 21-23

You must provide a worker for the required number of sessions, EVEN if your swimmer is not competing at a specific meet. You must provide a worker for the required number of sessions for the Mandatory Work Meets, EVEN if your swimmer is not competing at a specific meet. The worker can be a family member, friend, the athlete (depending on their age and the position – in general no one under 12, but this is up to the discretion of the Coaches and Volunteer Coordinators), or even a high school student who needs community service hours. Please be sure that the Volunteer Coordinators know if someone outside of your family is working on your behalf. Be aware that only half of each family’s work requirements can be completed on Friday nights.

WORKER SIGN-UP will open on September 21 at Noon for the Triple Dual, Greater Milwaukee Open, Fall YMCA Invite and Schroeder YMCA Finalist. The sign-ups for the remaining winter meets will open at the end of December. You will receive an email reminder stating the date and time of sign-up opening.

NOTE!  Monetary penalties will be enforced following each Mandatory Work meet. Please see descriptions below.

REQUIREMENTS

All sign ups are done through your Team Unify account. The program will "LOCK" on the Tuesday before the meet begins and after that point families are obligated to find their own replacements for their positions if they cannot work. Contact bhartlieb@wsacltd.org with questions or concerns.

Families whose only swimmer(s) are in these groups are exempt from the Family Work Requirements. If your swimmer advances to the next group (Super 8 / Age Group 2 / Age Group 3) you will be required to fulfill 2 sessions for the remaining swim calendar year.

Lastly, following the YMCA State Meet in March, a fine will be assessed to each family that does not complete 7 total sessions throughout the 2024-25 fall/winter season.

HOSPITALITY DONATIONS

Hospitality donations will be needed for our 3 largest meets; Schroeder YMCA Finalist, Schroeder A+ and YMCA State Championships. Partial volunteer credit will be given to families that donate main meals, several items throughout the weekend or large monetary donations. Please connect with the Hospitality Coordinator prior to the event to receive appropriate credits. The hospitality food donation sign-up will be sent out in the newsletter 2 weeks prior to each of the 3 meets.

CONFERENCE MEETS (FALL, WINTER, SPRING)

The Conference Meets are training meets to help you practice and get an idea of where you’d like to volunteer during our 6 large hosted meets. You will NOT receive Family Work Requirement credits for working the Conference Meets but volunteers will be needed to run the meets. You will be asked to either sign up ahead of time when the event opens or you will be asked to help when you arrive at the pool. As stated above, Superstars, Schroeder Stars and Lions are the only groups exempt from working at the 5 large hosted meets. Communications regarding the Conference Meets will be sent from the Conference Meet Coordinator
