Please see the two notes below on how Schroeder is planning on keeping practice a safe environment for you and your athlete
Updated 3/15/20
The Doctors Recommend
-
Strict supervision of youth and all participants
-
We discourage kids going by selves to YMCA to workout unsupervised
-
Social distancing - stay 6 feet away from others
-
Wash hands frequently
-
Avoid touching your mouth and nose
-
No Locker room use other than for using the bathroom. No shower or changing, come dressed to participate and leave - as it is an unsupervised space
-
First returning visit to pool clean out locker and begin to use swim bags - staff will supervise
-
-
If you, or someone you are living with/caring for, return from personal domestic travel to areas with case clusters, (currently Seattle, Bay Area of California, and the restricted areas of New York) you will need to self-quarantine and not train for 14 days.
-
Anyone returning from any international destination—whether for business or pleasure—or living with/caring for someone who has recently traveled internationally, should not train for 14 days.
Pools and Coronavirus
Per the CDC
“There is no evidence that COVID-19 can be spread to humans through the use of pools and hot tubs. Proper operation, maintenance, and disinfection (e.g., with chlorine and bromine) of pools and hot tubs should remove or inactivate the virus that causes COVID-19”
Before training any group:
-
Coaches, athletes and families should error on the side of caution
-
First question is anybody sick and is anybody at home sick like are your seatbelts on?
-
May not be guards everyone is a lifeguard today!
-
Constant supervision and reminders about maintaining space / social distance
-
Before training there has to be parent knowledge and input
-
Before training there has to be education about how and why and constant correction of behaviors - if we are not successful the cost is real
-
Why are we trying to do this is for the health mental and physical of athletes and families
General Training Guidelines
-
Any Sickness- do not come / do not participate
-
Maintain social distancing in pool and on pool deck
-
2 per lane max recommended at opposite ends
-
Parents should plan to sit and observe separately
-
Divers - Todd’s coming up with training area best practices

-
If doing station out of pool get it wet with pool water/have the athlete wet - have athlete rewet or splash deck soak deck after station
How to Make Practice Better? (write your thoughts below)
-
Bring Own Water Bottle! Fill at filling station avoid the bubbler
-
Snorkels - maybe Erika is not sure maybe have some give it a try
-
Less out of the pool time - less explaining sets with the kids out...put something on the board and keep them moving
-
I taught a lot and made explanations (dave) kids adapted quickly
-
Possible to go 3 per lane - 1 at each wall one starting in middle as an example
