Day3 Finals Summary - more of the same...
A humdrum boring refrain was the hallmark of tonight's third day of competition. Just more of the same old fast swimming - It was NOT boring! haha
The evening began with a near team and meet record performance in the 4 x 50 MR. Ashlyn, Gwen, Holy and Alex teamed up for a great opening effort at 1:42.7. And while the team will miss Alex's 22.6 anchor the front half of the relay remians intact for two more years..."looking for a sprint freestyler for a national championship potential relay".
Next Ashlyn and Nick battled great fields and both earned 3rd place spots on the podium. Ashlyn recorded a 1:55 and Nick also lowered his morning effort to 1:46!
Gwen finished 7th in the 100 breast with a 1:03 - it was cold in the venue last night and Gwen was out of gas after some #Dauntless swims this week to cap a remarkable 23 month career - this writer/coach is amazed at what she has done in so little time.
The final event of the night was the 4 x 200 free relay. Schroeder raced to a 5th place finish and a time of 7:24 - just shy of last year's team record mark. Alex, Ashlyn, Holy and Carolyn really raced very hard on each leg in the toughest relay in the program and were thankful that this year was timed final.
The Men's team is in 17th place, the Women are 4th and the Combined is 7th.
Unfortunately, last night marked the last time that the team was all together. Some athletes will be leaving for home today and so we took a team pic. a link to a high res image.
