Schroeder Enjoys a Particularly Good Night in OKC
The way it goes is the team has a rough day of travel on Thursday, Friday Prelims are usually rough and then we hit our stride on Saturday. True to form Schroeder enjoyed great swims all night. Mitchell made it to the Shoot Out in the 50 free and led off the session by winning his first round insuring a total of three 50 efforts during the session. Mitchell went his best 20.50 in the first round, in the quarter final he got beat but swam a very nice 20.52 and the in the consolation bracket he went 20.6 to get 4th place overall. Schroeder has placed at least one athlete in the Shoot Out for 12 straight years! Adam rocked an awesome 200 IM winning the event and breaking his own state and tema record in the process. His effort of 1:44.27 was really perfect. Chris Meyers won the C final in both the 200 IM 1:56.6 and the 200 breast 2:09.5. Casey Murphy swam to a best in prelims in the 50 - breaking 22.0 for the first time and then had strong C final recording a 22.0. In the 100 back Mitch snagged 3rd place with a 48.5 and Carl managed a best winning the B final with 52.33. Schroeder's fortunes continued to soar as Alex Meyers gave an Ohio State athlete all she could handle and recorded a best of 5:04.34 and finished 2nd in the C final. Both Schoreder relays swam good times 4:09 for the girls Jaime Kohnke, Alex, Annelise Sprau and the steady Senior Caroline in the anchor spot just missed scoring. The boys were a little tired but grabbed 4th with a respectable but tired 3:30.01. Carl, Chris, Mitch and Casey were onthe relay. Overall the Men are 2nd and the team remains 4th overall. TCU arrived today and will leap horned frog over us tomorrow in combined scoring.
