BOLZANO, Italy, November 6. NATALIE Coughlin completed a strong two-day outing in Italy at the International Swim Meeting in Bolzano.
Coughlin began the day with a win in the women's 100 fly with a 56.97. That swim pushed her to fifth in the world rankings in the event. Italy's Elena Di Liddo placed second in 59.32, while Germany's Sina Sutter earned third in 1:00.21. Coughlin followed that up with her fourth title of the meet with a 24.50 in the women's 50 free. She jumped to 12th in the rankings with that performance. Germany's Dorothea Brandt took second in 24.99, while Italy's Erica Buratto touched third in 25.36.
USA's Nick Thoman tied for ninth in the world rankings with a 24.24 to win the men's 50 back. USA's Randall Bal, representing a Brazilian club, took second in 24.46. USA's Adam Mania wrapped up third in 24.68. Italy's Laura Letrari captured the women's 50 back crown in 27.99, while Canada's Sinead Russell touched second in 28.34. Di Liddo podiumed for the second time tonight with a third-place 28.54.
USA's Tyler McGill claimed the men's 100 fly in 52.14, while Italy's Lorenzo Benatti (53.52) and Piero Codia (53.83) rounded out the top three.
