The Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center Adult Swim Fit is an adult aquatic fitness program for competitive swimmers, triathletes, and fitness swimmers who choose swimming as a primary path to fitness. Contrary to popular belief, YOU DO NOT NEED TO BE A "MASTERFUL" SWIMMER, and both Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center Members and Community participants are welcome.
This program accommodates all skills levels and you can come as many times per week as you would like. A coach is on deck providing expert advice in training technique, stroke mechanics, and goal setting for eight practices per week. Many participants swim for fitness and fun, but a good number compete in triathlons and meets sponsored by United States Masters Swimming and the National YMCA Masters Swimming Championships.
For more info please call Coach, Jessica Connors, at 414-357-2825.

Masters Swimmer Larry Eschenburg Passes |
|
Larry Eschenburg passed this morning after a long battle with brain cancer. His daughters Kinsey and Katie both swam for Schroeder in the late 1990's. Larry's exceedingly long frame and great pulling sets will always be remembered. |

Both Geoff Mykleby and Kimberly Von During competed in the Maui Channel Swim earlier this September. This race is the only Masters inter-island relay race in the world, as each 6 person team must swim between the Islands of Lanai and Maui. A boat will follow each team, and each swimmer will swim for a half hour at a time until everyone has gone. Then each swimmer races in 10 minute intervals until they have crossed the finish line....COOL!!

Triathlons to Open Water Swims... |
Brian Villa swam him best time by over 11 minutes in the 1/2 Ironman at Racine with a time of 27:41. Congrats Brian!!
Bill Lynch recently participated at the USAT National Age Group Championships in Alambama where he placed 16th in his age group. This qualified him for the ITU World Championships on August 29th, 2010 in Budapest, Hungary. OMG Bill!! Way to Go! For full results visit: http://www.usatriathlon.org/event/event/47.
Valerie Adams and Megan Ryther both participated in the Lake Monona Open Water (2.4 miles) swim on August 23rd. Megan placed 2nd Overall with a time of 55:27, while Val tied for 3rd Overall with a time of 1:00.40. They won't say it, but both of them swam very well as this race was a great stepping stone for the Masters Open Water Championships at Big Shoulders coming up in a few weeks. Nice job ladies!
Nikki Mitchell was first overall at the 'Under the Influence of Adrenaline Triathlon' in West Bend this past weekend! with a time of 1:12.38 for the Sprint Distance. This is great for Nikki because she really has put in some time refining her freestyle stroke, as well as nursing a leg injury that has kept her from running as much as she'd like to. Way to go Nikki! Visit: http://www.onlineraceresults.com/race/view_race.php#racetop.

Masters Race Well in Wisconsin Ironman |

Although this is old news to a few of you, I wanted to give a shout out to the Craig and Larry Lanza for their outstanding runs last weekend in the Lake Front Marathon.Craig placed in the top 15 with a time of 2:45+. Larry was in the top 50 with a 3:00+. Great job you guys!! In addition, athletic beauty Kimberly Von During competed as part of a relay team that placed first - they were called Team In-Step--4 Non-Blondes. Kimberly ran the 8 mile portion in 58 minutes (and then ran another 10 miles back to her car so she could really get a workout), 7:15 pace. She is currently training for an Ironman in Florida at the beginning of November. Finally, Ted Shue - one of those awesome (crazy) guys, who along with Greg Wyder, are still swimming in Lake Michigan on a daily basis- competed as part of the men's relay team that wonwith a time of 2:35+. In conclusion: SCHROEDER MASTERS ARE THE COOLEST! So proud to be a part...
