Schroeder Athletes Successful at Elkhart Tri |
|
Many familiar faces tore it up at Elkhart Tri this past weekend. Gwen, Larry, Craig, Tracy and Lauren were among the elites who were racing well. Read Tom Held's blog and then check the results for familiar names! Schroeder's swimmers did well out of the water with Gwen out 1st for the women, Lauren was 3rd and Craig was 3rd as well. Most impressive was Gwen's blazing run at the end.
Congrats to all!

After Gwen Jorgensen won the 2010 Crazy Legs Classic in a record time, it was an easy leap to conclude the former college All-American was racing to extend her career as an elite runner, possibly in pursuit of the Olympics.
Jorgensen herself is making a leap, but to an entirely different sport.

Schroeder Custom Cycling Kit |
|
Former Schroeder diver and graphic artist, Jeff Jasinowski, has been working on a design for a custom Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center cycling kit. The company that will make the custom kit is Wisconsin-based Mt Borah Designs. (check out the features of the garments and it will be knee not leg warmers under 'Products')
The full kit includes:
Arm Warmers, Knee Warmers, Full-Zip Jersey, Bib Shorts (male) / Shorts (female), Thermal Jacket
The process / timeline for placing an order:
1. 5/5 Announcement of Kit
2. 5/17 Last day to place an individual order - 50% deposit needed
3. 5/20 Fit kit available at the pool to try on various sample garments
4. 6/1 order submitted
5. Time passes and your kit arrives as your fitness is at it's max!
More info: I (Dave Anderson) have worked with my good friend Steve Gayner in the past to make two custom bike kits for fun. We used Mt. Borah and I ride in both all the time. The garments are well made, durable and comfortable. I am trying not to lose money, not make any (so that my wife / CFO doesn't kill me) but this is 'an at cost deal'. I can tell you that after you have a custom kit you will not wear or buy pieces off the rack and you'll wish you ordered more sets of shorts and jerseys so that you can always ride in them. The "sponsors" are great supporters of Schroeder and have not paid for placement on the garments - they are true friends of the facility and/or make a great product. You will not be disappointed! Please contact Dave if you have questions. |

Coach David Anderson began doing blood lactate testing in 1987 while at the University of Nebraska. As both a graduate assistant with the Huskers and then as Men's Assistant with the University of Minnesota he performed lactate tests on college and age group athletes to help determine proper training intensity and then to provide optimal training paces to help guide an athlete's intensity during practice. Through the 90's and until recently, Anderson has used heart rate to give the same kind of information. Recently, through a grant from USA Swimming, Inc., Anderson purchased a hand held analyzer and is beginning to test athletes again.
While at Nebraska and Minnesota, Anderson did testing on triathletes in all three disciplines to establish training paces and evaluate seasonal fitness progression. |

Video Stroke Analysis is very useful in determining stroke flaws and to improve efficiency. At the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center, athletes can see their strokes above and underwater to provide immediate feedback and make stroke changes more quickly.
