Co-Head Coach David Anderson

Anderson, 46, is in his 25th year of coaching and 15th at the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center.  Since 1985, Anderson has coached a Paralympian, 15 Olympic Trials qualifiers, and two Olympic Trials finalists, 16 Big Ten and Big Eight Conference Champions, four US Open Champions, 21 USA National Finalists, four USA National Junior Team Members, two USA National Team Members, and two Junior National Champions to five Junior National records.  Anderson has been a member of the USA National Team Coaching Staff, was named YMCA National Coach of the year in 1996 and again in 2007, and led the Schroeder YMCA Swim Team to a National Combined Team Title in 1997 and the Women's Team Champions in 1999.

Co-Head Coach Matt Miller

Matt is in his 13th year of leading Schroeder. Matt coaches Schroeder's top age group athletes in Group 3 and is the Director of Operations for the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center.  Miller came to Milwaukee in 1997 to teach eighth grade science and coach high school swimming. Matt coached part-time at the YMCA until 1999 when he left teaching to work full-time at Schroeder. In his first five years, Miller has guided Schroeder’s age group program into the area’s best and led the 12&U athletes to the 2005 Wisconsin Long Course State title.

Assistant Coach - Adam Mania

Adam will be starting his 3rd year at Schroeder as an Assistant Coach and pro athlete. Over the last 2 years Adam has taken on more responsibilities and more time on deck assisting Matt and heading the Home School Aquatic Program. Adam and Matt both coach Group 3, and Adam trains with and coaches Group 6. Adam also runs private lessons with many Schroeder swimmers and regularly conducts clinics and camps. Adam swam at the University of Wisconsin from 2001-2006 where he was a 2004 Olympian in Athens for Poland. After graduating, Adam came to Schroeder to take a coaching position combined with a training opportunity. In 2007 he set the US OPEN record in the 50m backstroke, qualified for the US National Team, and swam at the Japanese World Cup.  In 2008 he was a US Olympic Trials Semifinalist in the 100 back. Assistant Coach - Jessica Connors
jess
Jessica grew up swimming for the Schroeder YMCA Swim Team and was and remains an outstanding swimmer.  Jess leads Groups 1 & 2 and also guides the Masters team.  Jessica manages 130 athletes and does it with a smile!  Jessica is a 15 time NCAA All America selection for Kenyon College, a YMCA National Champion and is a team record holder.  After graduating from Kenyon College, Jess worked in the field as a marine biologist in Australia before returning to Milwaukee.  Jess is also a proud graduate of DSHA.
 
Assistant Senior Coach/Facility Coordinator- Chase Gravengood

Chase coaches senior swimmers and is the lead staff for all major events held at Schroeder. Chase grew up in Glenview, Illinois and moved to Oconomowoc at 15 where he swam for Lake Country Swim Team and Arrowhead High School.  He became an 11- time All state and 10- time high school  All American swimmer, winning 6 state titles in 3 years at Arrowhead. He went on to swim for UWM where he was a 5- time conference champion and 8- time school record holder. Chase was voted captain his junior and senior seasons. He swam for Schroeder the past four summers, becoming a mutliple US National Qualifer. Chase represented Schroeder at  the 2008 US Olympic Team trials in the 100m butterfly. Chase graduated from UWM in May 2009 with a bachelors in Business Administration and also works at Milwaukee Country Club as the Pool Director and Head Swim Coach.

 
Assistant Coach - Lindsay Newport

CorrellLindsay grew up in Naperville, Illinois and started her swimming career at age six. She swam with Schroeder in 1999 / 2000 and then went on to be a multiple time NCAA All American with UW - Stevens Point and where she graduated with a degree in Interior Architecture.  She has been coaching since 2005.

 
Assistant Coach - Don Jackson

Don is a volunteer coach for Group 1 & 2 and an avid golfer.  He and his wife Jessie, had three boys go through the YMCA’s swim team.  His oldest is still a multiple team record holder and was a YMCA National Champion.  Don is retired from the Milwaukee Fire Department where during his career he rose from the rank of Fireman to second in command, as Assistant Chief.  When Don isn’t enjoying a round of golf, playing guitar or swimming with the Masters team, he does an outstanding job with Schroeder’s youngest swimmers teaching fundamentals, values and fun.  Don has taught more people to swim than anyone in the area.

 
Assistant Coach - Tracy Kellner

Tracy has been coaching all levels at Schroeder since 1997. Tracy currently coaches Super Stars and is an expert with meet management. She was an outstanding sprinter and an NCAA All American for the University of Iowa where she graduated with a 4.0 in Mechanical Engineering.  Kellner is among the best area triathletes and with regular podium finishes. She is the mother of three: Doug, Julius and Alison and is married to former Schroeder YMCA Team record holder and NCAA All American sprinter Todd Kellner.

 

 
Assistant Coach - Marsha Hilliard
marshaHilliard has been coaching at the Schroeder YMCA since 1995.  Marsha works with Group 3 and the Senior team with a compassionate and firm style. She has strong ties with Schroeder as she grew up on the team and she was a team record holder in the sprint free and breast stroke events.  In 1988, Hilliard won the 50 free at the USA-West Junior National Championships and was an Olympic Trials Qualifier.  Hilliard is fitter than most and both her children are excellent age group swimmers.
 
Assistant Coach - Lindsey King

Lindsey joined the Schroeder staff in 2003 and graduated from Marquette University Law School in May of 2005. She is an attorney working at Petrie & Stocking S.C. doing commercial litigation. King is from Madison where she swam for the MAC team and then for the University of Wisconsin. Lindsey is an avid multi-sport endurance athlete. She works with the Senior swimmers and is married to Dr. Adam King.
