The Schroeder YMCA Swim Team (SSTY) is a nationally recognized, stable, year-round program that supports athletes ranging in ability from novice to national level. The team competes regularly in both YMCA and USA Swimming sanctioned meets. Schroeder coaches aim to promote each athlete’s character development. The larger goal of our program is to prepare each member for a successful college career and ultimately, prepare each athlete for life. The training programs are designed for each athlete with their age, ability and desire in mind and as these factors change, so do the programs.

There are six training groups within the team structure and they are based on age, skill and commitment level. Try Super Stars for an easy way to get started on swim team.
Group 1 is for kids age under 10 years old 
Group 2 is for kids age 10 - 14 years old 
Group 3 is for committed athletes age 10 - to 8th grade 
Groups 4, 5, and 6 are for athletes who are in high school of increasing levels of commitment 
COSTS AND PAYMENT
Team members pay fees annually for training and membership. All swimmers are members of the Walter Schroeder Aquatic Center which is also a full privilege YMCA membership, affording each the benefits of facilities and programs in the Milwaukee Metro Assn.
Membership and training group fees can be paid by Electronic Fund Transfer (EFT) or in a lump sum with discounts of 3% for 6 months and 5% for 12 months. Annual membership and training fees are divided into 12 equal parts. Please bring a personal check to pay for joining fee, membership, training fee, escrow, USA Swimming membership, and for your first month's payment if you choose EFT.
1. One-time Joining Fee $50.00 (per family)
2. USA Swimming, Inc. membership - USA Swimming, Inc. is the national governing body for swimming. Membership is $55.00 this year ($47.00 for 8 & Under). Membership is required to swim in any USA-sanctioned competitions and every team member must be registered for insurance benefit of an annual USA Swimming Membership.
3. Escrow Account - an escrow account is how each swimmer pays for racing in meets. Entry fees are detailed in meet information (typically $10-30 per meet). No fees are charged to SSTY families for meets that we host, provided that the family fulfills its work requirements. A swimmer makes deposits to his/her account and then entry fees are deducted. A positive balance of $50 should be maintained. Statements are distributed about quarterly. This system enables our team to write one check to the host team, rather than 100+ individual checks.
4. Training and membership Fees
Group 1 $996 per year or $83.00 per month (under age 10)
Group 2 $1032 per year or $86.00 per month (age 10 - 8th grade)
Group 3 $1476 per year or $123.00 per month (age 10 - 8th grade with performance and attendance requirements)
Group 4 $1452 per year or $121.00 per month (high school age)
Group 5 $1710 per year or $142.50 per month (high school age with performance expectations)
Group 6 $1746 per year or $145.50 per month (high school to college - performance and training requirements)
